A Very Specific Case
I wrote today’s comic last Friday while I was listening to the news. You can imagine how the panelists were discussing the Silicon Valley bank collapse.
↓ Transcript
Panel 1:
Herbert Hoover enters and sees a N-95-masked Franklin Roosevelt caring for a sick but sleeping Silicon Valley Bank. Its snoring ZZZs have slashes down them like dollar signs.
Hoover: "Bringing back the Reconstruction Finance Corporation? A classic."
FDR: "No Hoover. There's no bailout. Just stopping the infection before it leads to more bank failures."
Panel 2:
Hoover: "This is a very specific case affecting a very specific market. There’s no way it will start a financial crisis."
FDR: "What were the warning signs of the Panic of 2008?"
Panel 3:
Hoover: "Well, that was a very specific case affecting a very specific market. There was no way to know it would start a financial crisis."
FDR: "Did you wash your hands before coming in here?"
