Frederick Douglass
Frederick Douglass was born in February 1818, and although we don’t know the exact day, he chose the 14th for himself, so happy 200th!
Among a lifetime of struggles and accomplishments the likes of which I, and most people today, will never come close to, he was also instrumental in getting the fight to end slavery to be part of the north’s goals in the Civil War. Initially, the north’s fight was mainly about preserving the Union.
